Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) one (1) year by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. OR This position may be filled by a competitive detail not-to-exceed one (1) year. Details will be selected to serve for an initial 120-day period, which may be extended in increments of 120 days, up to one (1) year or until the employee obligated to this position returns. This detail opportunity is open to current permanent federal employees within this agency. NOTE: If you are not a current federal civilian employee within this agency, you will not be eligible for this position. PLEASE NOTE: This is a full time, detail/temporary promotion opportunity. Initial action for detail will not exceed 120 days and temporary promotion will not exceed one year. Both are subject to termination early or extended as needed in compliance with policy. Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1. Development, implementation and operation of a unit/installation. Security Protection Program;. 2. Interpret and/or develops general policy for application/implementation of security activities at the installation; 3. Develop and implement crisis management planning and execution; 4. Plans, formulates, and coordinates all matters pertaining to the protection and security of personnel, property and material against terrorist threats. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Physical Security Security Education, Training and Awareness Security Program Management Security Program Management Accountabilities Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
