Basic Educational Requirement: – 24 semester hours in accounting, which may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. Or – A bachelor’s degree in accounting. Or – A degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application. Education will not be credited without documentation. AND In addition to meeting the basic educational requirement, you must also meet the following Minimum Specialized Qualification Requirements: – Two years professional experience formulating a variety of financial reports. – A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements. – Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills in analyzing financial data and identifying issues/trends. – The ability to make informed decisions. – Assisting with budget year-end close-outs. – Preparing procedural instructions to be used in the development or modification of automated accounting systems. – Resolving differences between the general ledger and subsidiary accounts. – Entering, modifying, retrieving, and deleting information in an automated accounting system. – Establishing and planning work priorities and deadlines. – Providing technical and administrative, instruction, and counsel to unit employees. The VCS Central Office, located at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO, is seeking an Accountant. This position reports to the Chief Accountant. In this role, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the VCS Finance Center, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures on a National level.
