EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (Title 32)

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment. The experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology. A basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment. Experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical publications. Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience, education or training which provided knowledge and skill in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of equipment maintenance and management of a variety of ARNG equipment sufficient to provide advice, assistance, and guidance to unit personnel. Knowledge of the full range of ARNG equipment standards, policies, regulations, and methods sufficient to review the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment maintenance and training; and the need for improving existing practices that impact the overall equipment and maintenance program. Ability to instruct and provide classroom training involving equipment repair and modification; requirements for equipment maintenance records and reports; proper utilization and maintenance of equipment and facilities, etc. Knowledge of and ability to oversee equipment programs, maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reductions programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Warrant: WO1 through CW2; Enlisted: E-3 through E-7 UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any unit within state SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver’s license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) is a mandatory condition of employment, subject to availability of resources. NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC must be completed within 6 months of assignment to this position. Failure to complete course(s) may result in reassignment or termination of full-time employment unless extenuating circumstances preclude course attendance.
THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Combined Support Maintenance Shop (CSMS), Windsor Locks, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
