Specialized Experience: This vacancy is being announced at two grade levels: Specialized Experience at the FP-5 (GS-9): To be minimally qualified for this position at the FP-5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, FP-6/7 or GS-7/8 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Excellent analytical skill and judgment to understand various target audience needs and prepare communication to create visibility for agency programs. Skill and knowledge of writing and editing techniques. Skill in researching, verifying facts and organizing complex information into a concise and appealing response. ~OR~ A Master’s or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR L.L.B. or J.D., if related. Specialized Experience at the FP-4 (GS-11): To be minimally qualified for this position at the FP-4 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression, FP-5 or GS-9 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of current affairs and issues, and ability to understand their impact on Agency’s social media activities. Good understanding of laws, policies, and procedures applicable to social media platforms. Skill in researching, writing, editing, verifying facts and organizing complex information into a concise and appealing response ~OR~ Ph. Peace Corps employees are employed using the Foreign Personnel (FP) pay scale. The FP pay plan does not follow the same structure as the GS pay plan. In the FP pay plan, as the grade-level numbers decrease the level/pay for the position increases. The FP-09 is the lowest entry-level grade and the FP-01 is the highest senior-level grade.
This position is located in the Office of External Affairs, Office of Communications, at Peace Corps HQ in Washington D.C. The incumbent reports to the Media Content Manager to support the Agencys outreach and visibility through social media. This position is responsible for maintaining the quality of the Peace Corps brand and audience engagement across social media platforms and serve as a strategist for social media platform use, content development and campaigns.
