Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Industrial Equipment Mechanic duties such as replacing defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fused and electrical wiring; utilizing electrician’s hand tools and test equipment. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The employee lifts, carries, and handles equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance. Works from ladders, scaffolding platforms, vertical personnel lifts, or cramped areas where equipment, parts, or tools are hard to reach. Work requires frequent stooping, stretching bending, kneeling, and working in tiring, uncomfortable positions for long periods. Occasionally handles items weighing up to 100 pounds. Working Conditions: A majority of the work is performed indoors and in cramped positions. However, some of the work may be performed outside. The incumbent is exposed to chemicals when testing, treating, washing boilers or cleaning filters.
