Only experience and education obtained by 10/25/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification GS-15 One full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) leading a public affairs and communications program for an organization to highlight the mission and accomplishments of the bureau and/or organization; 2) managing short and long-range planning activities that include multi-year work plans that are the products of subordinate organizational projects/programs; 3) establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others, who may represent opposing views or conflicting interests; planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting priorities; and 4) analyzing conflicting information and data from a wide array of sources and developing recommendations and strategies that will achieve the organization’s public affairs and communications objectives. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Deputy Assistant Director – Office of Communications develops policy and serves as its representative in areas of external relations including media and partner communications; public information and news media programs. This is a not-to-exceed one (1) year temporary promotion assignment. This temporary promotion may be extended without further competition; however, it may not exceed a total of five (5) years. This temporary promotion may be made permanent without further competition.
