GS-09 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-2101-09 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications: Individual Occupational Requirements Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study — accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position. OR Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled. In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirements above, you must also meet the specialized experience below to be minimally qualified for this position Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent, which include: Planning passenger travel via air and ground methods; Identifying facts, deadlines, special requirements in travel documents; Generating solutions to travel related problems due to weather conditions and/or equipment malfunction; AND Communicate with passengers, travel arrangers, and service providers alike about travel request processes. OR Education: You must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate leading to such a degree with a major field of study in Accounting, Business Administration, Business or Commercial law, Commerce, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Industrial Management, Statistics, Traffic Management, Transportation, Motor Mechanics, or other fields related to the position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. AND Possession of the following competencies: Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one’s job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues. Reading Comprehension: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences. Note: Subject matter experts will evaluate the first five pages of work experience in your resume based on these competencies. Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System (JPATS), Kansas City, MO The selectee of this position serves as a Prisoner Transportation Coordinator. You will be responsible for scheduling and transporting pre-trial and sentenced prisoners and criminals and non-criminal aliens throughout the United States and territories, and to and from foreign countries.
