Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Telecommunications Mechanic Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common tasks including repairing electrical wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures. Making repairs such as tightening connections, insulating bare wire, and soldering loose leads to contact points; operating military vehicles; and using test equipment to locate malfunctions. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability To Use and Maintain Hand Tools (Electrical Work) Ability To Use Electrical Drawings Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Theory and Instruments (Electrical Electronic) Used in Shop and Trade Practices Ability to perform common tasks including repairing electrical wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures. Making repairs such as tightening connections, insulating bare wire, and soldering loose leads to contact points; operating military vehicles; and using test equipment to locate malfunctions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 70 pounds or over with assistance. The work requires bending, stooping, and working in cramped positions. Works with electrical power supplies from I2 volt dc, 120 vat to 480 vat, 3 phase high voltage current. Exposed to electrical shock which may cause death or serious injury. Works inside and outside during all types of weather conditions. Stands on concrete floors and works on ranges in rough terrain. Exposed to dangers of live fire ranges, pyrotechnics, laser frequencies and explosives. May be exposed to sulfuric acid when handling batteries used in operation remotely controlled target devices. Is exposed to the possibility of abrasions, explosive charges equivalent to l/4 pound charge of TNT. Hearing protective devices are issued or available for use.

About the Position: This position performs a variety of duties related to the inspection, maintenance, and repair of targets, target devices, and the nonvoice telecommunication systems including the copper core and fiber optic data transmission systems of the ranges and immediate areas in which these items are located.
