To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirement for the position occupied. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree From Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. GS-9 BASIC REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: Possession of a master’s degree in professional nursing; OR Possession of a diploma, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program AND at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 or above): independent assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive nursing care for a variety of acutely ill patients; develop plans of care to meet the needs of assigned patients; recognize adverse signs and symptoms and reacting swiftly in emergency situations; basic knowledge of triaging patients The nurse will progressively assume responsibilities as assigned in the Emergency Department setting, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee. GS-10 Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet the following requirements: Possession of a diploma, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program AND at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 or above): managing the care of patients who present to the Emergency Department with a wide variety of conditions ranging from non-urgent to life-threatening or emergent. Experience in assessing the immediate needs of patients, prioritizing care needs, working in a collaborative interdisciplinary team to address identified care needs of critically ill patients. Experience coordinating and organizing the plan of care from Emergency Department admission through discharge. Experience performing charge nurse and/or team lead responsibilities.
This is a Direct Hire Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) for the Indian Health Service at Colorado River Service Unit in Parker, Arizona and Hopi Health Care Center in Polacca, Arizona. Emergency Registered Nurses (RN) provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across the age spectrum and presenting with a wide range of acute and emergent conditions in Emergency Department settings.
