Because the position is not located in an organization with a Fire mission, the PD is not eligible for secondary SRC approval, nor does it meet the requirements for primary SRC approval. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Conducting fire/safety inspections to identify, reduce or eliminate the hazards that cause fires; 2) developing materials to provide situational and/or classroom training on fire prevention; and 3) reviewing plans for construction projects to ensure compliance with fire codes and/or fire prevention. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-08). In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, applicants must also possess: Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, and HazMat Awareness certification through Department of Defense (DoD) Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M. You MUST submit a copy of all of the above mentioned certifications at the time of application. If your application package does not contain proof of having these certificates, your application will be marked as incomplete and you WILL NOT receive consideration for this position.
