In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Conducting theoretical and/or experimental research on physical and/or biological processes of living organisms and systems as related to space life sciences or controlled environments; Performing work in the areas of microbial and plant research which requires expertise in one or more areas of plant biology, microbiology, molecular biology, cellular biology, and/or plant physiology research; Working with biological payloads designed and built for flight to the International Space Station and/or other spaceflight platforms which includes knowledge of space related biological responses and conducting related research. The Utilization and Life Sciences Office (UBA00) at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is seeking an individual with experience in both project management & project science that will utilize that expertise for NASA Space Biology payload design and payloads built for space flight at KSC and conducted on the International Space Station (ISS) and other future space exploration platforms.
