Maintenance Worker

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision: perform work associated with a variety of trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, cement work, appliance maintenance, and welding, electrical and building maintenance; prepare surfaces for painting; replace electrical outlets; repair or replace toilets; install door locks, latches and hinges; clean gutters and down spouts; install plumbing pipes and fixtures. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Employee works in shops and at job sites. Strenuous physical exertion is often required. Employee may lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Employee is required to stand, stoop, and bend. Knelling, climbing on ladders, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and where parts of the system are in hard-to-reach places. Work is frequently done from ladders, scaffolding and platforms WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee is exposed to moderate or high noise levels, sawdust, glue fumes, and hazards associated with woodworking and related power equipment when performing work in the shop area. Work at job sites exposes employee to weather conditions and the hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders. Employee is subject to cuts, bruises and contusions. May be required to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces and attics, which may be dusty and dirty. Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required. Steel toe shoes, hard hats and safety glasses, are required at all times. Long trousers or coveralls and shirt or tee shirt with sleeves are worn.
