Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering hydrologic/water samples for analysis; AND (2) gathering data from hydrologic gages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6). GS-8 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering hydrologic/water samples for analysis; (2) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (3) minor repairs and/or installation of gages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7). GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering hydrologic/water samples for analysis; (2) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (3) repair and/or installation of gages; AND (4) Program Geo-Stationary Operational Environmental Satellite Data Collection System (GOES/DCS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-8). GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering hydrologic/water samples for analysis; (2) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (3) repair and/or installation of gages; (4) Program Geo-Stationary Operational Environmental Satellite Data Collection System (GOES/DCS); AND(5) analyses of hydrologic samples and recommends corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-9). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering hydrologic/water samples for analysis; (2) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (3) repair and/or installation of gages; (4) Program Geo-Stationary Operational Environmental Satellite Data Collection System (GOES/DCS); (5) analyses of hydrologic samples and recommends corrective actions; AND (6) identify problems and recommend solution to both data and gages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
