EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions, and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0401: General Biological Science Series). Individual Occupational Requirements Basic Requirements 1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR 2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that involves compliance with policies and procedures; manages Natural Resources program funding which deal with land management and conservation agreements with various organizations (e.g. National Environmental Policy Act; Clean Air Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, climate change); assist with range management plans that include use of trust land data relating directly to vegetation types, fuels, soils, watersheds, cover type, topography, fire usage and effects, ownership and ecological use. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience). Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Shiprock, New Mexico. The work involves responsibilities for a Region wide Natural Resources program. NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.
