Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. To qualify at the GS-14 level: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Evaluating and integrating regional programs Advising and interpreting Economic Development regulation and policies and their potential impact on program operations and activities for a region or territory; Coordinating and managing construction and/or non-construction projects and resources; Leading a team effort in fostering effective and cooperative working relationships with stakeholders To qualify at the GS-15 level: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Advising and analyzing economic growth activities Providing oversight resolving economic growth develop program issues Analyzing and integrating multiple program activities across geographic regions Leading a staff/team in the development and execution of investment strategies specific to geographic region or territory Applying principles of Economic Development regulations (Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
