Certificate Requirement: The certification requirement for this position is to have an FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate (FAA Form 7220-1). Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service which includes the following. Provide control and separation of air traffic also controls the arriving and departing aircraft by means of radar and two-way radio communications. Issue FAA assigned transponder codes for tracking aircraft, issues altitude and direction to be flown as necessary to keep aircraft in designated areas. Assist pilots planning flights and filing flight plans. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Decisiveness Planning and Evaluating Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
About the Position: his position conducts enroute air traffic control duties and advisory instructions for Fort Irwin Restricted Areas R2502 North, R2502 East R2502 Alpha, Bicycle Lake Army Airfield, Goldstone Airstrip, and Freedom Field Landing Site. The position works on a rotating eight-hour shift, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, in Desert Radio Airspace Information Center, integrating nonparticipating live fire activities, airborne and close air support operations.
