GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-9 GS-12:1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-11 Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience examples: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-11: Utilize standard engineering practices, methods, and techniques to perform design work applicable to the design, construction, maintenance and repair of healthcare facilities; develop reports, engineering statements of work for facilities to be modified or repaired; and perform engineering duties concerned with the design, repair and, buildings and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) controls, utilities and related systems. GS-12: Apply engineering principles, methods and techniques in developing the planning documents for healthcare facilities. Provide consultation on engineering aspects of the agency’s facilities planning, construction program, energy conservation and resources; Experience reviewing healthcare facility design plans with staff and managers; prepare policies, procedures and guidelines for implementing preventive and operations maintenance.
