Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements of the announcement including the following specialized experience and/or education and selective placement factor, as identified. This position contains a selective placement factor (SPF) that is part of the minimum qualifications requirement of the position. If you do not meet the SPF, you are ineligible for further consideration. The SPF for this position is: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English and Spanish required. French, Haitian Creole, and/or Portuguese also preferred. A written and/or oral test may be used to test for language proficiency; if selected for an interview, portions may be conducted in Spanish. For the GS-5 level: Must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties the position. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes: providing clerical support in an office where your responsibilities included a broad working knowledge of administrative duties; applying standard office procedures and practices such as maintaining records or forms; entering data or providing reports from automated information computer systems; preparing standard correspondence from templates and tracking correspondence for clearance; scheduling appointments, coordinating meeting calendars, distributing agendas and preparing minutes for meetings; and receiving calls and visitors. OR Must have completed four full years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Must have less than four years of post-high school education, but I have a combination of post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and the specialized experience described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. For the GS-7 level: Must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties the position. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to working with a variety of administrative, writing, and research support functions related to the review and processing of grants, financial agreements or similar financial documents; preparing a variety of narratives (English to Spanish), statistical, and tabular materials, including correspondence, memoranda, specifications, briefs, and reports; serving as a public contact responding to inquiries and informational requests; establishing and maintaining a filing system or data base; and working with an office budget. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. This position requires 40 words per minute typing ability. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
