INTERDISCIPLINARY PLANNER / ENGINEER / ARCHITECT

This position has a Selective Placement Factor (SPF) that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The SPF is: if applying for an Engineer or Architect series, you must possess current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE), or Architect (RA) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. If you meet this requirement, you must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. (If you are applying for a Community Planner, AICP is desired but not required). In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Applying facilities planning standards to develop detailed planning documents and project scopes; 2. Using planning theories and methods to advise other planners on complex facilities issues and basic facilities requirements (BFRs); 3. Identifying problem areas in project planning and suggesting solutions; 4. Delivering presentations and briefings to senior civilian and military leaders; and 5. Analyzing design criteria and engineering studies to address conflicts in project development. Education (continued) Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: FOR THE GS-0020, PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY PLANNING SERIES: Have successfully completed a community planning degree, or a degree in a related discipline such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance, OR have a combination of education and experience where I have successfully completed a community planning degree, or a degree in a related discipline such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration and have one (1) year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner. I have a combination of education and experience where my courses were equivalent to a major in community planning , urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration; or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the listed disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
You will serve as an INTERDISCIPLINARY PLANNER / ENGINEER / ARCHITECT in the PLANNING, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE, DESIGN DIVISION, PROJECT PLANNING BRANCH of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
