Current Civilian Employees of the Organization Current Department of Army Civilian Employees In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience required for in-service applicants: One year of specialized experience at the second lower-level equivalent to the GS-05 grade in the Federal service which includes: Answering emergency and/or non-emergency calls for police, fire, or ambulance assistance; AND Dispatching emergency personnel as needed in accordance with priority level procedures; AND Operating communications software to perform dispatching duties such as: log calls, prepare reports of activities, and assist with medical dispatching until appropriate emergency units arrive. In addition to the requirement above, this position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Interpersonal Skills Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
