TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. ~AND~ In order to qualify for this position, you must also possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-4) in federal service. Qualifying specialized experience is experience providing technical instruction and mentoring others regarding documents scanning and electronic document importing management issues, faxing and receiving of documents, and final disposition of documents; resolving problems; and using current computer technology associated with medical, employee, or other types of records/files. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~ EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level (in any field). NOTE TO APPLICANTS: This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The work places no special physical demands on the incumbent. The work includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, and carrying of up to 50 pounds. The position will be located within the Business Office/Medical Records Unit at the VA Portland Health Care System.
