This is a term position not to exceed 13 months. Term positions may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, and MAY NOT be converted to permanent. Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (FLO) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can perform common Materials Handler duties. I can prepare, identify and receive items, direct shipments to shipping or storage locations and operate forklifts to move and stack material. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort Work is performed on hard surfaces for extended periods of time that require standing, stooping, bending, walking, pulling, pushing, kneeling and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements exceeding 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with approved lifting devices and or weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Inside environments are well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Outside work may be performed in hot, cold, damp, poorly lighted and drafty conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to potential falls, cuts, scrapes, bruises abrasions and possible injury. Work performed in warehouse environment is subject to injuries from falling stock, handling materials, hazardous materials and mechanized equipment. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as gloves, hard hats, aprons, approved safety glasses and steel toe shoes
