Term Appointment NTE – Position may be filled as a Term Appointment Not To Exceed (NTE) 13 months. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to supervise through subordinate supervisors as a Artillery Hydro-Pneumatic Systems Mechanic Supervisor. The work of the position normally includes: leading or supervising Artillery Repairers, Equipment Installers, or General Equipment Assemblers in a manufacturing environment. Setting work schedules and establishing priorities; reviewing employee’s work in progress or upon completion; planning work sequence to have work completed by deadlines – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Meet Deadline Dates under Pressure Ability to Plan and Organize Work Ability to Supervise through Subordinate Supervisors Ability to Work with Others Ingenuity (Ability to Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Different Relevant Lines of Work Knowledge of Materials PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires incumbent to bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel. Lifts and moves equipment weighing 25 pounds and occasionally weighing up to 60 pounds; position item in test stands frequently requiring reaching and working in awkward positions; exercises patience and sensitivity in the senses of sight and touch required in lapping, polishing, adjusting, and aligning items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside. Subject to skin and eye irritations from solvents, greases, oils, and hydraulic fluids; possible scratches, cuts, strains and abrasions when handling and assembling parts. Required to follow safety procedures and wear safety equipment such as safety shoes, ear plugs, glasses, gloves, and respirators. Exposed to injury in test situations due to the explosive potential of pressurized air, injury from liquids subject to pressures from 1,500 – 9,000 pounds per square inch.
