Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MATERIALS HANDLER WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SU PERVISION. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You will be rated on the following Job Elements as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position. This measures knowledge, ability and personal characteristics directly associated with this job: Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Inspect Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical effort: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 40 pounds. Dexterity and strength are also required occasionally when the employee pushes a cart weighing up to 200 pounds. May handle heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Assists in loading and unloading trucks. Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing, such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Drives motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions. This position requires you to operate a Forklift. You must obtain and maintain a forklift certification and a government issued driver’s license. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
