GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Assisting with formulation, execution, and/or communication of administrative policies and procedures for an organization, ensuring consistency and compliance with agency and departmental guidance. Coordinating written and verbal executive correspondence and documents, including confidential/sensitive material, and ensuring correct grammar and language. Managing calendars, priorities, meeting coordination and logistics, and travel coordination for officials. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Communications, etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-12 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Independently leading formulation, execution, and communication of administrative policies and procedures for an organization, ensuring consistency and compliance with agency and departmental guidance. Managing calendars, meeting coordination and logistics, and travel coordination for senior officials, including autonomy to establish scheduling priorities. Serving as systems owner to implement office automation and information systems that improve workflow and promote effective recording and access of data. “Experience” refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This position is part of the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management – National Energy Technology Laboratory, Department of Energy. As an Executive Assistant, you will disseminate information, execute the administrative support function program, processes, systems, and procedures; establish and communicate administrative activities consistent with guidance and procedures.
