All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/07/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs annual inspections for condition assessment and reporting for Commercial Services’ concessionaire assets, and applicants are required to possess an International Code Council (ICC) certification such as Commercial Building Inspector (B2) or Commercial Plans Examiner (B3) and/or residential building Inspector (B1) certification. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. A copy of this certification must be uploaded with your application materials. If your answer is NOT substantiated by a copy of your certification with your application materials, you will not be referred to the hiring official. – AND – To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is knowledge of, and skill in applying, a wide range of specialized methods, techniques, procedures, policies, costs, materials, and equipment relating to construction. This would include working for a federal, state, or local county or city jurisdiction for commercial construction projects in one of the following positions: engineering technician, construction control representative, commercial plans examiner, commercial building inspector, commercial construction manager or commercial construction superintendent. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: 1) Engineering aid or technician or surveying technician performing work directly related to construction. 2) Construction inspector or construction representative responsible for interpreting plans and specifications, inspecting materials and workmanship, and insuring adherence to safety requirements. 3) Supervisor of craftspersons, equipment operators, or mechanics engaged in construction work, provided that the experience involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship for adherence to such plans and specifications. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
