Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Ordnance Equipment Mechanic (Explosives Operator) Leader without more than normal supervision. This includes assembly/disassembly, test and repair of electrical and electronic and mechanic components of missiles and ordnance systems. Able to oversee the operation automatic machines performing explosives work involving demilitarization or renovation such as pull-apart machines, delinking machines, or other renovation machines. – Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Work involves lifting and working on production including standing, reaching, bending, stooping and manipulating carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds lines at rhythmic pace for extended periods parts and using machines and hand tools. During fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms. Working Conditions: Work is performed on the demolition range and outside on ramps and storage areas when weather is often inclement. There are assignments where dirt, grease, noise, and odors are often disagreeable. Required to wear protective clothing which is specially made and treated for working on explosives; including safety shoes, glasses, gas masks, and coveralls. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life to burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, and nausea.
