This is a detail NTE 120 days. For details, employees do not have to meet the qualification requirements for the position to which they are detailed, except for minimum education, licensure, and certification requirements. This position does not have minimum education, licensure, and certification requirements that will need to be met prior to assignment. A detail is a temporary assignment of an employee to a different position or set of duties for a specific period when the employee is expected to return to his/her regular duties at the end of the assignment. An employee who is on detail is considered for pay and FTE purposes to be permanently occupying his or her regular position. There will be NO CHANGE in current pay even if this assignment is to a higher grade than that currently occupying. Supervisory approval is required and MUST be submitted with application. Current Title 38/Hybrid Title 38 employees: Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 excepted service employees are not able to be detailed to competitive service positions, in accordance with restrictions defined in VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Appendix N. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, but occasional standing, walking, stooping, bending and carrying items weighing 25 pounds maybe required. Assignments may occasionally involve longer periods of standing, bending and stooping to observe and facilitate group projects or activities. This position will perform Administrative Officer duties for the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Department. This announcement is for a Not-to-Exceed 120 day detail to the position. A temporary promotion is NOT authorized. Applicants must submit their current supervisors approval to be considered for this detail.
