In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Overseeing ISS mission execution activities as a Certified Payload Operations Director, managing and reporting on status of programs, projects, and quality management; Planning, directing, controlling activities of the ground support team; Integrating ISS payload elements into a functioning system or subsystem for complex flight to ground control facility systems; Leading identification of risks and risk analyses, planning, tracking, and control (e.g. the Flight Readiness process (CoFR)). You will serve as a Payload Operations Manager (POM) and Increment Lead Payload Operations Director (POD) within the Human Exploration Development Operations Office (HP) supporting the International Space Station (ISS). You will lead the Payloads Operations team in the preparation and execution of ISS Payload Operations; provide expert consultation to a globally dispersed team on flight systems and payload operations; and make major decisions affecting NASA and International Partners.
