In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing four (4) of the following: (1) utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) to create, revise, and update correspondence, envelopes, labels, mailing lists, spreadsheets, tables, graphs, presentations, or databases; (2) reviewing and editing office correspondence using correct English grammar, punctuation, spelling in line with established guidelines and procedures; (3) receiving and answering routine telephone inquiries; (4) processing out and incoming mail; and/or (5) maintaining filing system. OR Education: Successful completion of at least four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university in any field. One (1) year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must include transcripts. OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first take only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts. SELECTIVE FACTOR: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors in order to qualify for this position. You are self-certifying that you possess this typing requirement. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest nontemporary competitive appointment. Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as “varies”.
