You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. You must meet the screen-out element Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision, normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have performed finishing processes or similar industrial/production processes with products or completed training or formal education in performing these tasks (buffing, polishing, cleaning or other similar quality fine tuning alterations to items). In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified. Your application will be evaluated in the following areas: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (screen-out), Knowledge of Metals, Operation of Machine Tools, Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic), Ability To Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop.
This position is located in the Manufacturing Department, Production Division of the U.S. Mint, San Francisco, CA. The purpose of this position is to set up, operate and maintain a number of automated machine tools to auto-polish dies in the production of proof coins. This position will also perform laser frosting operations and coating operations and be responsible for performing manual buffer and polisher duties.
