Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Education-Individual Occupational Requirements: I have a bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR I have a combination of education and experience that provided me with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR I have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that I have acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) participation in substance abuse prevention program activities; (2) provide training and/or presenting presentations to large groups of individuals; AND (3) assist in coordination of public outreach efforts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Work, Public Health and Community Health’ OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Education and Training Oral Communication Partnering Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Term Appointment NTE – Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six(6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
About the Position: The Army Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) program falls under the APG Garrison Directorate of Human Resources (DHR). The ASAP Office provides education and early intervention to help commanders, civilian supervisors, and the APG community reduce lifestyle risk factors to increase healthy outcomes.
