OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST

Basic Requirements: Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. GS 13: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position listed above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting operations research and analytical studies in support of assigned programs and concepts for future systems. Specialized experience should include most or all of the following: 1) Preparing reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions; 2) Applying methods of scientific inquiry and analysis to design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods; 3) Performing validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulating models as necessary; 4) Utilizing software architecture, programming, database development and management techniques to design, develop, execute, test and review model improvements; 5) Collecting, presenting, analyzing and verifying data, techniques and methodologies associated with cost analysis/cost estimation of proposed projects. GS 12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position listed above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties associated with conducting operations research and analytical studies in support of assigned programs and projects. Specialized experience should include some of the following: 1) Following prescribed methods of scientific inquiry and analysis; 2) Adhering to established operations, staffing and processing requirements and implementing improvement directives; 3) Proposing appropriate adjustments to projects; 4) Applying knowledge of modeling methodology and operations research tools; 5) Coordinating plans and scheduled execution of projects.
