In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements for 0101 series & Group Standard for Professional & Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes knowledge of social science theories/practices, and individual, relational, social and community psychology theories/practices, with an emphasis on institutional, structural, and interpersonal factors influencing the organizational culture and climate in regards to violence prevention. Specific knowledge of violence prevention theories including sexual assault, dating, intimate partner and family violence, work place violence/bullying, suicide, and alcohol abuse/misuse prevention and response is desired. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Professional knowledge of social and behavioral science theories/practice/research/assessment; and individual, relational, social and community psychology theories/practices, with an emphasis on individual, relational, structural and institutional factors influencing the organizational culture. Specific knowledge of violence prevention theories and understanding of complex social problems including sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating/intimate partner/family violence, work place violence/bullying, suicide, and alcohol abuse/misuse prevention and response is desired. 2. Comprehensive knowledge of: complex interrelationships between individuals, groups, and intergroup relations that increase risk for interpersonal and self-directed violence among individuals, families and communities; Individual, relational and community dynamics that promote and build protective factors that lower risk for interpersonal and self-directed violence. 3. Professional knowledge of the principles and practices of higher education and military training with demonstrated ability to design and evaluate education and training curricula and material suitable for diverse learners, including cadets, staff, and faculty (military and civilian). 4. Knowledge of strategic planning functions including developing strategies, goals, and objectives; synchronizing program events and milestones; and assessment of the same at the individual, program, and institutional levels. 5. Ability to persuasively present recommendations for program and policy change to individuals at all levels of the organization and to address strategic and practical concerns appropriately. 6. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in writing and orally, prepare written reports integrating data and charting a recommended course of action, craft visual aids to support oral presentations on sensitive topics, deliver oral presentations clearly. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
