To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirements: Education Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Evaluation of Experience for Grants Administration Positions: For positions at grades GS-12 and above involved in professional work in grants administration, qualifying experience is considered to be experience in grants administration in areas of science, medical and healthcare fields similar or related to the work of the position. Such experience must have involved professional judgment of a kind and level of difficulty and responsibility essential to successful performance in the position to be filled. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-05: Applicants who meet the basic requirements described in the individual occupational requirements above are fully qualified for the specified entry grade (generally grade GS-5) GS-07: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement OR 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree OR 1- year specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience for GS-07: Ability to apply basic principles, concepts and methodology of Exercise Science to develop individual fitness plans; conduct health assessments; apply appropriate educational principles and methods as it applies to fitness practices; provide consultation and training to clientele for a variety of health conditions; ability to apply safety and injury prevention techniques; ability to motivate; ability to collaborate with a variety of programs designed to address public health needs. Specialized experience for GS-09: Independently applies basic principles, concepts and methodology of Exercise Science to develop individual fitness plans; designed primary and secondary levels of fitness plans; provides consultation to professional staff; ability to analyze and evaluate exercise scientific data and programs; ability to plan and recommend policy; provide consultation and skill in obtaining information from clients and analyze their fitness and translating into individual fitness plans; ability to apply fundamental sciences such as anatomy; physiology, and pathology. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located at the Chinle Service Unit (CSU), Division of Public Health, Health Promotion Department, Chinle, AZ. The primary purpose of this position is to provide exercise and fitness instructions, education, and to design exercise plans for the Health Promotion clientele and to maintain fitness equipment of the service units population.
