In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA’s unique aerospace work. To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Providing technical leadership, engineering advice, guidance and oversight on the development, implementation and integration of mission-critical goals and objectives; Leading multi-discipline engineering, scientific or technology programs, projects or task teams to conduct analyses, testing, and recommending solutions for technical issues encountered in development of aerospace hardware/software or systems for programs/projects; Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters, aerospace systems integration, testing, or resolving problems that impact project performance. Serves as a Chief providing leadership and management across the Engineering Directorate at Marshall Space Flight Center. The supervisor will oversee complex technical projects, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure the successful execution of engineering initiatives aligned with MSFC missions. Responsibilities include managing resources, staff development, performance evaluation, and implementing configuration and quality control processes.
