In conjunction with education, Minimum two years specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Financial Counselors must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or a combination of education and experiences commensurate in serving as a PFM counselor. Also, must possess and maintain a nationally recognized financial counselor certification. Other positions, such as Work & Family Life Specialist/Consultants require a bachelor’s degree or higher in education, social/behavioral, business administration, finance or economics. Two years’ experience serving as a consultant and/or instructor conducting at least two elements of WFL programs. Experience providing adult education and/or work/family life consultation is preferred but not required. High level of skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns and issues and provide assistance to develop goals and plans, in order to determine appropriate referral services and options. Skill in preparation of presentations and public speaking in personal – large and small group settings. Effective skill in forming and retaining working relationships with peers and leadership. Skill in using various computer software database, spreadsheet, word processing, and network programs (e.g., as Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and FFSP databases). Knowledge of the formulation and execution of needs assessment tools. Ability to communicate effectively in writing. Skill in exercising judgment in interpreting and adapting them to specific counseling cases or problems involving work and family life issues. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, implement, administer and counsel eligible personnel on various Work and Family Life (WFL) issues and provide information and referral services at NAS Jacksonville, FL. The WFL Specialist is responsible for providing and/or facilitating WFL program services which consist of relocation, deployment support, career development, transition assistance and financial planning.
