To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Competition for Custodial Worker Positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veteran’s preference as long as such applicants meet the additional eligibility criteria under the IHS Excepted Service Examining Plan and/or IHS Merit Promotion Plan. Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations. Under this system, how applicants gained their skill and knowledge or the length of time they have spent in a line of work are not as important as the fact that they have the required ability or potential to do the job. In this system, the job element method is used to match what applicants can do against what the work calls for. The knowledge, skill and abilities of applicants are compared with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Applicants who do not meet the screen out element(s) will be found ineligible. SCREEN OUT ELEMENT(S): Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. WG-3: Your resume must demonstrate experience obtained in either the Federal, private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Clean various areas, e.g., exam rooms, public restrooms, walls, floors, furnishings, windows, outside entrance, respond to emergency cleaning needs; vacuum, sweep, mop and maintain floors within the facility and facility quarters when required; Use of manual and automated cleaning tools, e.g., brooms, mops, high pressured floor and/or carpet cleaners, pressure washers, etc.; remove non-infectious and infectious waste, mix and use chemicals, lift of move objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Housekeeping department, at the Chief Redstone Healthcare Facility, Wolf Point, MT. The position reports to the Custodial Worker Supervisor.
