Basic Requirement for Supervisory Operations Research Analyst (Data Scientist): Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Data Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Supervisory Operations Research Analyst (Data Scientist)/Supervisory Data Scientist: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by leading multi-disciplined data science technical teams delivering complex analytical products or services; Utilizing modern data science tools, techniques, principles and concepts to develop new techniques and methods; Collaborating with technical and non-technical personnel, including senior leadership, to translate organizational requirements, such as, well-defined technical or analytical problem sets delivering solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
