NOTE: You must meet qualification requirements, including any requirements described in the Education section, by the closing date of this announcement. In addition to the basic education requirements, you must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as described below: To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as planning and executing IT security assignments; developing new IT security methods, approaches or procedures; and evaluating and providing recommendations concerning an organization’s compliance with IT security requirements. Your application package will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of IT security protocols, policies, procedures and methods. Ability to develop, implement and/or coordinate activities for the protection and restoration of IT systems services and capabilities. Skill in developing and providing guidance for the implementation of IT security policies in the development and operation of network systems. Ability to develop recommendations on information systems security protocols impacting Agency IT policies or programs. Ability to develop and implement IT security training and awareness programs. Skill in written and oral communication to lead and/or participate on inter-agency workgroups or committees involving systems administration issue or changes and to prepare presentations, systems documentation, and reports. Ability to manage contracts to assure contractors perform the technical and management requirements of IT contracts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
