LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT RESPONSE)

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing reports concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, and inspections to keep supervisor informed; 2) Leading structural firefighting duties for facilities that include research and/or large industrial complexes; 3) Performing pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with layout, fire hazards and location of fixed fire protection systems to maintain up to date knowledge for fighting structural fires; 4) Leading crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic and/or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high; 5) Driving/operating firefighting vehicles to include pumpers, aerial ladder truck, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles considering factors such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft to maintain safety of operations; 6) Surveying hazardous material incidents to identify materials involved, determine whether hazardous materials have been released and surrounds conditions to predict likely behavior of hazardous materials; and 7) Administering emergency medical care and preparing victims for transport to medical facilities. Note: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for this position This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, HAZMAT Technician, Driver Operator Pumper, Driver Operator Aerial, National Registry EMT, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. The following certification, if not already held, must be obtained within 12 months of hire as mandatory condition of position: Airport Firefighter, Shipboard Firefighter.
