NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is a Title 32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Vermont Air National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. OPEN AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: AREA 1, 2,3 Area I: All current On-board Permanent and Indefinite Dual Status 32 and Title 5 (Competitive and Excepted) Technicians (Tenure: 1-Career, 2-Conditional, 3-Indefinite) – Only those Vermont National Guard members who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed. Area II: All Members of the Vermont Air National Guard. Area III: Currently assigned service members in other branches of the military outside of the VTNG, to include those assigned to Active Duty, Reserve or other state’s National Guard. Military Grades: Military grade will be individually addressed up to TSgt/E6. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: -Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant’s ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-6: Must have a minimum of 6 months experience or training which demonstrates the ability to learn procedures used to service, repair and maintain aircraft ordnance equipment. Experience which has demonstrated an ability to recognize various defects of equipment. Experience in the use of common hand tools. Experience showing the ability to follow written instruction. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-8: Must have a minimum of 12 months experience or training in repair and installation of ordnance equipment and components such as launchers, pylons, bomb racks and actuators. Experience which required the ability to diagnose malfunctions. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring instruments. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience interpreting and applying a variety of technical manuals and similar published materials. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-10: Must have a minimum of 18 months of experience in a position engaged in function such as installation, maintenance, or repair of aircrew egress systems. Must demonstrate through experience and/or appropriate training, a thorough knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical principles as applied to aircrew egress systems: of the concepts embodied in AFM 66-1. Vol XII; and of the use and interpretation of blueprints, wiring diagrams and technical publications. Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications. Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates’ experience should be evaluated based on duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant’s record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s specifications PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
