EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions Environmental Protection Specialist, GS-0028). GS-9: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience providing assistance by researching environmental protection issues; or carrying out specified portions of environmental protection projects and identifying and recommending solutions to problems; assisting with site inspections; collecting data; reviewing documents; analyzing evidence. OR have completed a master`s or equivalent graduate degree. OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR a combination of education and specialized experience as described in above. NOTE: Applicants who select this response must provide transcripts as verification of their education. GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 in the Federal service. Specialized experience in performing analytical duties associated with the planning, development, execution and review of environmental policies and procedures; or using analytical techniques to modify or adapt established environmental protection procedures; performing site inspections; writing reports; recommending corrective/mitigation action or procedures for compliance. OR completed Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Navajo Region in Gallup, New Mexico. Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist who has full responsibilities of the Regional NEPA Coordinator that maybe required to enable the agency branches or program representatives to meet NEPA related responsibilities.
