To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: performing cleaning duties such as mopping, dusting, and/or disinfecting lavatories and/or maintaining outdoor appearance of facility premises. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. This position is restricted to persons entitled to Veterans’ Preference; if there are no Veteran’s preference eligible applicants available, non-preference applicants may be considered. Physical Effort: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Custodial Worker under the Nashville Area Indian Health Service, Office of Environmental Health and Engineer (OEHE). This position is located in Nashville, Tennessee.
