Only experience and education obtained by the closing date 11/08/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Minimum Qualifications. Minimum Qualification GS-5 1. I have one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the federal service, or equivalent non-Federal experience. Examples of specialized experience may include: experience assisting with wildlife population or habitat surveys, capturing, handling, and tagging a variety of wildlife; assisting with native and invasive plant surveys and invasive species treatments, collecting water quality data; data collection and recording. OR 2. I have a successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled. OR 3. I have a combination of specialized experience (as in A above) and education (as in B above), when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements of this position. Experience and education are each computed as percentages of their requirements and must equal 100 percent when combined. Only education beyond the second year is creditable to meet this standard. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is a Biological Science Technician, GS-0404-5 working in Lakeview, Oregon for the R1-Sheldon-Hart Mountain NWR Complex. This is a term position expected to last 13 months, but may be extended up to a total of 3 years (a 4th year is possible if funding is available).
