To qualify for this position at the GS-06 level, applicants must meet the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the federal service that has given the applicant the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the Equipment and Facilities Services Assistant, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes performing administrative and customer service duties; using an automated computer system to initiate, schedule and track work orders; utilizing a variety of office equipment and software to prepare and generate reports and correspondence; maintaining databases; and purchasing supplies or procuring contracts. Specialized experience includes performing administrative and customer service duties to support a facility maintenance or engineering department/service; using an automated computer system to initiate, schedule and track work orders; utilizing a variety of office equipment and software to prepare and generate reports and correspondence; maintaining databases; and performing work in support of purchasing supplies and the procurement of contracts. Periodically will involve some walking, standing, crawling, bending, or carrying of light items for initial investigation of requested work. The employee serves as an Equipment & Facilities Services Assistant (EFSA) in the Engineering section of the Ralph H Johnson VA Medical Center. The EFSA is assigned primary responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, control and administration of a comprehensive computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This position is located in Charleston, South Carolina.
