You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service: Successfully developing, executing and evaluating outcomes of audience-focused communication plans in the defense public affairs or journalism community; Providing strategic guidelines in the application of a communications plan, specifically in ensuring integration across teams, dissemination of assignments and targeting audiences through selected use of online platforms; Resolving conflicts between stakeholder expectations and organizational guidance; Applying knowledge of DOD public affairs ethical guidelines and regulations as they apply to public affairs community relations and public affairs relations with business and nongovernmental organizations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
This position is part of the Defense Media Activity. The incumbent serves as a Team Lead, Department of the Air Force News Desk (DAFND), Department of the Air Force News Services (DAFNS), Department of the Air Force Production Directorate, Production Component, Defense Media Activity (DMA), Fort Meade, Md. The DAFND edits news articles and serves as the primary web and news content managers for the official Department of the Air Force and Space Force websites.
