Basic Requirement for Supervisory Civil Engineer, Supervisory Civil Engineer (Structural), Supervisory Mechanical Engineer and Supervisory Electrical Engineer:http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/files/all-professional-engineering-positions-0800.pdf Basic Requirement for Supervisory Architect: http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0800/architecture-series-0808/In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes supervisor of subordinates, technical expert on design features of navigation, flood control, vertical construction, and related projects; reviews drawings, engineering quantity estimates, and technical specifications; assign work depending on priority, difficulty of work and capability of employee; oversee development of designs, plans and specifications for difficult mechanical and electrical systems; prepare estimates for inclusion in project work; functions as authority on structural, electrical, mechanical engineering and architectural design matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone–no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
