BASIC/EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) must be acceptable to The Surgeon General. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments. Completion of the Air Force Social Work Internship Program may be substituted for 12 months of the specialized experience requirement. This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources. Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate. Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed.
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SOCIAL WORKER, Position Description Number T5012000 and is part of the MEDICAL COMMAND, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veterans Preference does not apply due to this being a Professional Series position. Position duty location will be at the HQ 369th in Harlem, NY.
