To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Training: – Completed an approved medical assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United State Department of Education. OR – Completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States that provided clinical proficiency with the necessary scope of knowledge to perform the duties as described in the vacancy announcement. Certification: – Current and active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). OR – Current and active Registered Medical Assistant certification (RMA) from the American Medical Technologists (AMT). OR – Current and active National Certified Medical Assistant certification (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). OR – Completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States that provided clinical proficiency with the necessary scope of knowledge to perform the duties as described in the vacancy announcement. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-0640-06: Venipuncture, collecting lab specimens, performing basic wound/skin care measures, and administering oral medical, typical of experienced medical assistant or health education positions. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR – Position requires formal education/training, competency and certification as a CMA, completion of an approved Medical Assisting training program accredited by the commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education. Employee must maintain their certification. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
This position is located in the Division of Clinical Services at Crownpoint Service Unit. The incumbent is a member of a patient care team in an active medical practice that will perform basic patient care services and technical tasks under the immediate direction of a licensed physician. Works under the organizational title of a Certified Medical Assistant.
